About Nida

Come and Join the 470 Class at the Baltic Training Clinic

After a successful year of development programmes in 2010, which included Regional Clinics in Serbia and Slovenia, Joint Clinics with the 420s in Angola and Argentina, Junior Clinics in Greece, France and Qatar and Warm-up Cups in Netherlands and Turkey, we have decided to expand our geographic programme to a new country.

470 Internationale is proud to be opening our 2011 470 Development Programme with a Regional Clinic in the Baltic hosted in Nida, Lithuania from 7-11 May 2011 and are pleased to invite Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Belarus and other 470 sailors and coaches located around the Baltic sea to take part in the Baltic Training Clinic.

Objective
The Training Clinic will run over 5 days with the objective for sailors to improve their skills with professional coaching from Nikos Drougas, the 470 Internationale appointed coach.

The Clinic is being organized together with the Lithuanian National Class Association and being held immediately prior to one of their international events, The Lithuanian Cup 2011, which is taking place from 11-15 May 2011. The entry fee for the Lithuanian Cup 2011 is EUR12 per person.

Location
The Clinic will be held in Nida, Lithuania which is close to the Polish border.

Schedule
The schedule of the clinic will be finalized by Nikos Drougas, but is provisionally expected to be:

Saturday 7 May to Wednesday 11 May
10:00 – 12:00 Lesson, theory
13:00 – 17:00 Practice on-the-water
18:00 – 19:00 Training briefing with video, questions and answers session

Coaching will include sail trim, boat handling techniques, race strategy and tactics.

There will also be a Welcome Party on the evening of Saturday 7 May.

The Lithuanian Cup will take place from Thursday 12 May to Sunday 15 May.

For planning purposes, we would like to receive all entries by 1 May 2011, but entries will be accepted after 1 May 2011 and on site directly to Nikos Drougas.

Accommodation and Getting to Nida
The Lithuanian 470 National Class Association recommends the following hotel which is located about a 15 minute walk from the sailing club.

Hotel Prie Mariu
Double room – EUR 45 per night (including breakfast).
