ÁLVARO MARINHO OLY WINS SWAN 36 CLUB EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN ITALY
Swan 36 Club European Championship took place in Puntaldia, Italy from September 12th to 16th. 9 boats from five countries were competing, integrating two Portuguese sailors into Italian teams.
Alvaro Marinho, aboard Lorenzo Mondo's "Farstar", is the European Champion of the 2023 season, while Diogo Cayolla, on Edoardo Ferragamo's "Courdileone", ranked 4th place just two points from second place. Alvaro Marinho is a four-time Olympian in 470 class between 2000 to 2012 Olympics.
In the end Álvaro Marinho Oly highlighted "The incredible demonstration of how a team that, after 11 months without sailing together, managed to put together all the necessary elements in the same week to win", referring that "we are an experienced team, which makes the boat sail fast, a Skipper who is always happy and stays positive, whether we win, whether we don't win, and obviously a little luck in the mix helped us get to the title we worked so hard for the last 2 years". "It was perhaps one of the most difficult weeks in terms of meteorological instability, but we managed to keep up with the wind and make good decisions, which helped a lot with the results obtained."
