ALL EVENT INFORMATION

It was a long day today on shore and water, waiting for the wind to hit Vilamoura, Portugal, for the second day of competition for the 2022 420 & 470 Junior European Championships.

The racing was planned to start at 14:00 but it was only around 16:00 when the 420 fleets were allowed to launch their boats and head the courses for action (20' later for the 470s).

But a new AP flag was waiting for the competitors on water due to light breeze.

Finally the 420s yellow group started sailing at 17:55, immediately followed by the Blue and the U17 fleets, while the 470s did it at 18:22 in the other course.

5-6 knots and flat water were the sailing conditions, similar to yesterday but even lighter, allowing only 1 race per fleet to be held.

470 results - Race day 2

The 470 class competition is still in hands of Matisse Pacaud / Lucie De Gennes FRA with 5 points, followed by Agnieska Pawlowska / Bartlomiej Szlija POL and Pablo Ruiz / Marta Penarrubia ESP with 7.

Efe Tulcali / Defne Danismend TUR and Kacper Paszek / Oliwia Laskowska POL are also close with 8.

Zofia Korsak / Franciszek Borys POL lead the Under 21 championship with 10 points.

The competition will continue tomorrow and the intention is to run 3 new races per fleet, with the first warning signal at 14:00 for the 420s and 14:30 for the 470s.

All sailors, coaches, team leaders and officials are invited to a Portuguese BBQ at the boat park after the last racing of the day.

The event will run until July 26th, when we will meet the new 2022 420 & 470 Junior European champions.
