Fifth day of racing in lake Bracciano for 470 class 2018 Junior World Championship and it was a great one full of action on the water. Right after 11:00 a good south wind started to kick in which pleased sailors and committee members, preparing the sea track for the day. At 12:00 the first start was given to the Gold fleet, followed by Women’s and the Silver fleet. At that time, the wind was around 8-11 knots, nonetheless it slowly increased at around 12-14 knots. In Men’s fleet defending 2017 champions Hippolyte MACHETTI/Sidoine DANTÈS from France, are on top position with 17 points difference from the second Italian team Giacomo FERRARI/Giulio CALABRÒ, followed by the Hungarian brothers Balázs GYAPJAS/Zsombor GYAPJAS. Game is not over yet as tomorrow’s race is the most important one although the French have dominated Men’s fleet throughout the week and seem to have the Series in their hands.

The battle for Women’s title for Junior World Champion of the year is still at play. Benedetta DI SALLE/Alessandra DUBBINI from local waters lead with 6 points on the second team from Germany Theres DAHNKE/Birte WINKEL, followed by the French Paola AMAR/Marine with just 4 points away. All teams will do their best to claim the highest place on the podium at tomorrow’s race.

Fair but hard and intense races were completed today and the athletes are in fast recovering mode to be ready for the last race of the fleets; Medal Race for the best 10 World Junior crews, followed by the Closing Ceremony.
