TWO MORE EXCITING RACES LEAD THE FLEET TO THE PENULTIMATE DAY OF JUNIOR WORLDS
Two more races were added to the 470 Junior Worlds regatta in Tihany. PRO Péter Farkas sent the sailors on the water at 7:30 for the first warning signal at 8.30. The fleet sailed again on the western side of the peninsula, the Race Committee hoping for more stable wind on that side. During the first race of the day OSCAR was displayed but it was switched to ROMEO at the first mark, so free pumping was only allowed on the first leg. Austrians Donner-Slivon won the 7th race in front of Pawlowska-Szlija from Poland. For the next race the course was rearranged to the left side, but due to a drifting mark it had to be abandoned. After the second start the race went on properly, with a few shifts and with once again dropping wind. The Polish boats dominated the whole race by leading from the beginning and finishing in first and second place.
Pacaud-De Gennes continue in the overall lead, with two fifth places from today, followed just one point behind by the Austrian team which finished the second race of the day in 7th place. Pawlowska-Szlija with two 2nd place finishes have improved their overall position and are now in 3rd place, but 12 points behind the Austrians.
In the U21 category, Donner-Slivon lead comfortably by 25 points from the second team, the European Champions Korsak-Borys from Poland. Pennaneac’h-Bunel are in 3rd place.
In the non-mixed category, Hungarians Vida-Batiz continue in the lead after finishing 4th and 9th today, following their impressive race win yesterday. They are standing in 12th position overall, 11 points ahead of the Japanese team Konishi-Arita.
